Summary

Urbact Experience
During URBACT III, I was Lead Expert for the sub>urban network with Lead Partner Antwerp. A network focusing on the transformation of Postwar urban areas at the fringe of European cities in order to make them future proof, sustainable and inclusive. For more than three years I have been involved in this network and the greater Urbact Experience. Supporting the network with methods and tools for integrated and participatory approaches, expertise for design and delivery of transnational exchange and learning activities. My involvement also included dissemination collaborations with other networks.

Fields of Expertsie
Flexible planning, circularity, climate adaptation and affordable housing play an important role in my current practice as an architect, urban planner and researcher at Temp.architecture.urbanism. In our practice we focus on social housing, urban transformations, sustainability and care projects. We work for municipalties, provinces, ministries, housing corporations and private clients. Currently we are also working on the third edition of our book and research project: “The Flexible City”. This new edition will focus on climate adaptive and circular challenges faced by sixteen different European regions and describes best practices and useful instruments. Strategic Urban Planning and Sustainable urban development were already part of the curriculum at the TU Delft and my postgraduate education at Columbia University in New York. Later I became guest lecturer at TU Delft and several academies in the Netherlands, teaching sustainable concepts both on the scale of the city and the scale of the building.
